The Tent of Sunlight

A distinguished literary ceremony will also celebrate the launch of Dhoop Ka Khema (“The Tent of Sunlight”), an evocative and reflective book on the art, vision, and personality of Sabir Raza, written by renowned literary figures Dr. Saadat Saeed and Mansoor Afaq. More than a critical study, the book is a luminous journey through the creative world of a writer whose words carry both fire and tenderness. Published in Urdu and English, Dhoop Ka Khema bridges languages, cultures, and generations, offering readers an intimate portrait of Sabir Raza’s literary and artistic legacy. The book is available worldwide on Amazon, allowing admirers of literature across the globe to experience this inspiring tribute.

The Second Coming

“The night of the pig cometh. LEAVE. By Order of the Blood of Christ Crusaders.” This terrifying letter, marked with inverted red crucifixes and a pig’s head, is discovered by Marah’s mother at their door — a chilling warning from the fascist Christian militia known as the Bloods. Soon, the violence they threaten becomes reality.
In The Second Coming, Tariq Mehmood explores how imperial Britain continues to survive through the violence, fear, inequality, and instability it has itself created.

Exhibition of Mahrukh’s paintings

A special exhibition of Mahrukh’s paintings will also be held, presenting a powerful collection of artworks that blend emotion, memory, and imagination with extraordinary artistic depth. Her paintings reflect a rare creative sensitivity, where colours, textures, and silence speak with equal intensity. Each canvas carries its own story, inviting viewers into a world shaped by reflection, longing, beauty, and human experience.
Known for her distinctive visual language and expressive style, Mahrukh creates art that moves beyond form and enters the realm of feeling and thought. The exhibition promises to be a remarkable artistic experience, celebrating creativity, individuality, and the timeless connection between art and the human soul.

Breaking the Chains of Silence

This powerful long-play drama on the deeply painful issue of forced marriage was written by Sabir Raza and directed by Mansoor Afaq. More than a film, it is a courageous artistic protest against the cruel social practice of forced marriages that continues to haunt many lives within immigrant communities in Britain. The story revolves around an alcoholic father and his young daughter, whose dreams, fears, and future become trapped within a cycle of emotional violence, control, and social pressure. Through deeply moving performances and emotionally charged storytelling, the film reveals the silent suffering hidden behind closed doors — where honour is often valued more than humanity, and tradition becomes a weapon against love and freedom. The role of the alcoholic father has been powerfully portrayed by renowned Pakistani actor Sohail Ahmed, whose emotionally intense performance gives the story remarkable depth and realism. With haunting realism and poetic sensitivity, the drama seeks not only to tell a story, but to awaken conscience, challenge oppressive mindsets, and give a voice to those whose pain is too often ignored by society.

Bloodline

Two souls deeply in love are shattered by a truth neither expected — both are carriers of Thalassemia, a reality that places the future of their unborn child under the shadow of Thalassemia Major. What begins as a beautiful journey of love slowly transforms into a painful confrontation with destiny, sacrifice, and emotional uncertainty.Caught between the longing of the heart and the fear of inherited suffering, they choose to pause their relationship, standing helplessly before a future neither of them can fully escape. The story delicately explores love, loss, responsibility, and the silent wounds carried by those forced to choose between emotion and humanity.Directed by: Mansoor Afaq

Cinema of Awareness and Memory

The festival will also feature screenings of socially conscious health-related dramas and historically significant documentaries. These powerful productions aim to raise awareness, preserve collective memory, and inspire meaningful dialogue through the language of cinema, storytelling, and visual art.

Journey Of Memory

Journey of Memory ('Yaadasht kaa safar') depicts the difficulties that an Asian family has in recognising their elderly relative's memory problems. The short play of 25 minutes is followed by a series of interviews with West Midlands psychiatrists, who give practical advice on the treatment of dementia and available services. Dr Rashda Tabbasum, who produced the film, 'Journey of Memory' said: "With an increase in the life expectancy in Britain, we are seeing a proportional rise in the prevalence of dementia within the aging BME population. It was in this context that the film and leaflets in several South Asian languages were produced to spread awareness of dementia within the South Asian communities and the extremely important issues surrounding it."

Echoes of Katas Raj

A memorable documentary on the ancient temples of Katas Raj, uncovering forgotten histories, spiritual legends, and the silent echoes of the past. Through powerful visuals and reflective storytelling, the film opens the sealed doors of memory, reconnecting viewers with a timeless civilization, cultural heritage, and the mystical beauty of one of South Asia’s oldest sacred sites.

The Sacred Echo of Panja Sahib

A remarkable documentary on Panja Sahib that beautifully captures the spiritual grandeur and historical significance of this sacred Sikh shrine. Through moving narration and unforgettable imagery, the film transforms the memory of Panja Sahib into an even more timeless experience, celebrating faith, devotion, peace, and the enduring legacy of Sikh spirituality.
